EPL 26 Nov

Arsenal vs Blackburn

Arsenal managed to survive Wigan's brave comeback battle and came away with 3 points last week at the JJB stadium. Blackburn drew 0-0 with Man C last week in a dull encounter. Arsenal on the other hand, fielded a young team for their mid-week CL fixture and the players should be sharp after a week's rest.
I'd say Arsenal look good to win. However, the petty 1.28 offered by S Pool make me have second thoughts of taking it. -1.5 goals is worth a try with van Persie and Henry on fire. If last week's encounter with Wigan is anything to go by, take H-H as Arsenal should be firing from all cylinders right from the start..

Villa vs Charlton

Villa has been getting decent results of late. Charlton on the other hand, just can't get a good result recently, especially so on the road. However, this fixture is still a little tricky to guess. I think it'll be a draw. If you are game, pick D-D and 1 goal. As I think the teams will be level at half-time and if there's to be a winner, it'll come in the second half.

Man C vs Liverpool

Liverpool is on fire recently. Winning the last few EPL fixtures comfortably. They also ensured qualification to the 2nd round in the CL with their goalless draw against Betis. Liverpool will be missing Xabi Alonso, the spark in their midfield.. Although Liverpool are still favourites to win, I feel that Alonso might be sorely missed. I have a gut feeling that it may be a goalless draw. The returns are pretty decent, but bet small as a little flutter. Go for draw on 1X2 if you want a safer route or D-D.

Sunderland vs Birmingham

It's been 3 weeks since Birmingham last played competitively. And they are struggling nonetheless. A crucial match for both teams who are sucked into a relegation battle even at this early stage of the season. Sunderland has been playing well of late, while Birmingham has been struggling to find the form they need. Goalkeeper Maik Taylor might be dropped for his errors in earlier games. I think Sunderland might win this one, based on form. It's hard to guess what the final result will be, but I don't really see Birmingham coming away with 3 points. So, probably buy a D-H, D-D to get some decent odds.

Wigan vs Spurs

Brave display by Wigan last week, threatening to do a famous comeback against Arsenal. Wigan has enjoyed good home form this season. Spurs on the other hand, squandered a golden opportunity late in the West Ham game to kill off the contest and were duly punished when Anton Ferdinand headed a last gasp corner home to snatch a point. Be prepared that Wigan is raring to go to claim all three points. I'd say it'll be a draw. Bet on 2 goals. Try A-D if you have that extra cash, at 13.00 it's definitely worth a try.

Pompey vs Chelsea

Portsmouth plays their first game without manager Pardew after a string of bad results. Meanwhile, Chelsea's lynchpin Claude Makelele is out injured. This might be good news for the rest of the Premiership as Chelsea now look more beatable without the reliable French. However, I doubt Pompey will be able to capitalise on his absence.
Chelsea to win by at least 2 goals. the odds have dropped from 1.95 to 1.82. But still, I think it's a good investment.. A-A should be a good bet too. If you are out to seek some excitement, try taking Chelsea to win by 3-0 or 4-0..

EPL 5-7 Nov

Arsenal vs Sunderland
Go for Arsenal win. The Gunners look good for a home win. Sunderland has got 11 of their squad injured. That's almost or more than half of the squad. I'd say, Gunners to win by more than 2. But the odds offered by S pool is a little pathetic at 1.52.. Might want to try D-H on the HT/FT ticket as the Gunners have been winning matches late into the game recently. However, I still think it'll be H-H, but yet again, the odds are pathetic. So try ur luck on D-H for a chance on a better return. Best Bet: Home win, Arsenal -1.5goals, H-H.

Newcastle vs Birmingham
Newcastle looks to be on some sort of a revival, especially with the return of Owen. Kieron Dyer's injury should not cause too much worry for the home team against a struggling Birmingham. Newcastle looks quite set to win this one. Pick up the 1/2 goal slip and mark "Home" if you care for a little flutter. The odds of 2.30 justify the 50-50 chance of Newcastle beating Birmingham by at least 2 goals.

West Ham vs West Brom
WBA is very inconsistent this season. Despite beating Gunners 2-1 about a month ago, they have failed to impress against other teams. West Ham on the other hand, have been on a good run relatively. I can't see West Brom coming away with 3 points. A draw is probably the best the Baggies can manage. Still, I expect West Ham to win by the odd goal. Try 1 goal on the total goal slip if there is extra cash to spend.

Portsmouth vs Wigan
Wigan are on a high and I expect them to try and take full advantage of the fact that Pompey will be the last lower teams they play before meeting the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea in successive weeks. This will be an extra incentive. Their points tally now means they probably won't be relegated even if they were to hit on a long bad run from now on. But expect Wigan to triumph against a dismal Pompey. Try D-A or Wigan win 1-0 for extra excitement while watching. =p

Man U vs Chelsea
Tough call to make. Man Utd in crisis against a lacklustre Chelsea of late. It's really hard to say which team will quickly bounce back from their recent setbacks. it's really disappointing that a potential match of the season has degenerated into one whereby both teams are playing to find their forms again. Of course, Utd being the main culprit. Stay out of this match and buy some chips instead. If you really must bet on it, bet on draw. Though Chelsea might still snatch a win against a mediocre Utd side of late.

Champs League Gp A-D, 2 Nov

A bit too late now to give full predictions for games on 1 Nov. Matches will start in about 2 hours. Anyway, my bet tonight will be on Chelsea beating Betis. The starting odds by Spool is tempting, at 1.77.. No wonder the odds dropped drastically in the next 48 hrs. It is now standing at 1.57 as I'm writing this. Going for the "away" on the 1X2 slip shouldn't go wrong. But if you have more guts, I'd say Chelsea have no problem beating Betis by at least 2 goals. At odds 2.60, it's quite a lucrative wager. Good luck!

Now on to the matches to be played on Wednesday night.

Barca vs Panathinaikos -
Despite having some glitches since the start of the season, beating the Greek side shouldn't be a problem for the Spanish giants, especially with the match being played at Nou Camp. However, the odds of 1.16 will warrant that you invest heavily to get a paltry return. Taking Barca let might be a wiser choice. However, with odds at 1.67, I have my reserves too. It might just not be worth the risk to bank on Barca winning by at least 2 with the odds rather low.. Why not pick up the bet slip for "pick the score" and enjoy a little flutter of no more than S$10 and face much higher returns? Well, that's if you have the extra money to enjoy more excitement.

Juventus vs Munich -
Both teams are doing well domestically, though Juventus just suffered a 3-1 drubbing at the hands of AC Milan. The last tie a fortnight ago saw Munich coming away with full points unexpectedly. Juventus will sure want to get even by putting one over Munich this time round.. However, I'd say that just like the tie 2 weeks ago, a draw would be a much better prediction. If you want higher returns, go for D-D on the HT-FT bet slip. Probably grab another slip and mark D-H too, as a cover. This match can really swing either way depending on the performances. But the pre-match analysis of both teams would say that a draw will be a realistic and fair result.

Lille vs Man U -
Well well, Man Utd drowned by the river side on Sunday. A disatrous outing for most of the stars, probably except for Rooney. Well, he may just be the man to help Man U get a step closer to the last 16 of the competition on Wednesday night. The Red Devils missed his enthusiasm and work ethics in the correpsonding tie 2 weeks ago and his return will be a major boost. Scholes is suspended for this one after being sent off for 2 bookable offences at Old Trafford. Fergie has chosen Ruud to captain the injury-ridden side without a host of senior players to lead the team. Ferdinand is still expected to play despite his appalling performance against Boro. Brown should be on the bench as he's still short of match fitness. However, don't be too surprised if Bardsley is to make way for Brown at right-back.
After the poor result at Boro, a Man U win is worth a odds of 2.00.. So I'd say, go for it.. The odds is a little too good to refuse. But bet small, cos you will never know if Mr Rio will press the self-destruct button for Man U tml night again!
